Ever wondered what it's like to be a sales trader? Maybe you like the quantitative nature of trading, but you also have the people skills to form strong connections. Read Kasper's story to get a glimpse into the life of a sales trader!"My Da Vinci adventure started as a market maker on the Brazil team. On my first day I had to cover a Brazilian oil stock which went down 9% -I was immediately intrigued.However, after a couple months I felt that there was something missing and when I discussed this with the team lead, we agreed that some of my strengths could be better used elsewhere. Because of my ability to build and maintain relationships I became the first sales trader at Da Vinci which was a role that nicely fit into the US team with a more discretionary trading style. That’s a great thing about the company; we don’t try to fit you into a box that already exists, but rather look at your individual skills to see how they can be fully leveraged.With my academic background in econometrics as well as my passion for connecting with people, Ireally enjoy the multidimensional nature of the sales trader role. Here I am responsible for finding the liquidity outside of the screens. On my day-to-day I am trading with brokers, banks, and direct counterparties while making sure we areexecutingthe trades that fit our current strategies. During my 1.5 years here at Da Vinci I have learned a lot in all aspects of volatility trading. I'm excited to continue the growth now that we are in the final steps of becoming a market maker in the US, which will further expand thesales side of things."
