              pros

The sliding center-row seats are essential...basically deal breakers in my opinion in terms of the competition. The Sport model is very sleek and manly...finally a true minivan for dads. Love the V6 engine, has some good "get-up", wish the MPGs were a little better in town though.

              cons

The steering wheel should be heated for this trim level. Also, the gear shifter takes up a lot of room that could have just been a knob and then you could have had an actual climate control area for easier use (expand the current climate control section.

What is the best year of Honda Odyssey to buy used? ›

In general, if you were to ask which Honda Odyssey years are the most reliable, the statistics show the first (1995-1998) and fourth (2011-2017) generation models have the best records. However, we cannot promote 30-year-old minivans as the best buy.

How many miles is too much for a Honda Odyssey? ›

The longevity of a Honda Odyssey largely depends on various factors, including initial quality, maintenance, driving conditions, and the owner's diligence in caring for the vehicle. What years did the Honda Odyssey have transmission problems? ›

What Years Did the Honda Odyssey Have Transmission Problems? The second-generation Honda Odysseys produced between 1999-2005 are most plagued by transmission problems. The years that rated the best by reliability were 2015 to 2017, and 2021 to 2023... Even though the odyssey is one of the best made cars available, I'd recommend you have a mechanic review any car you're serious about buying.
